Dear Mr. Grier:

The damage sustained by safety related cables during cable pulling activities and reported in our PLA-383 of July 17, 1979 to the Commission under the provisions of 10 CFR 50.55(e) remains under investigation. Our architect engineer, Bechtel Corporation, has recently provided PPaL a preliminary report which is not yet suitable for formal submittaL.

Bechtel has further indicated that a final report is forthcoming by December 3Lr 1979. Therefore, we request an extension from the originally scheduled date until March 1, 1980 for subnittaL of a final definitive report.

We will continue to aggressively pursue this problem and will advise the Commission of the results of our evaluation once the final report is available from Bechtel.
