UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REGION III 2443 WARRENVILLE RD. SUITE 210 LISLE, IL 60532-4352 December 18, 2014 Mr. Michael J. Pacilio Senior VP, Exelon Generation Co., LLC President and CNO, Exelon Nuclear 4300 Winfield Road Warrenville, IL 60555

SUBJECT:

DRESDEN UNIT 1 MASTER INSPECTION PLAN CALENDAR YEAR 2015

Dear Mr. Pacilio:

In accordance with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Inspection Manual Chapter 2561, Decommissioning Power Reactor Inspection Program, the NRC Region III staff developed a Master Inspection Plan (MIP) for Dresden Unit 1 for calendar year 2015.

The inspection plan is based primarily on decommissioning activities planned for the site from January through December 2015. The plan outlines how we intend to focus regional inspection resources to provide oversight of decommissioning activities.

The MIP is based, in part, on your proposed schedule of decommissioning activities for 2015.

As a result, the plan and the focus of NRC inspection resources may change to reflect those activities or your performance. In order to ensure that the MIP remains current, we request that you keep the Materials Control, ISFSI, and Decommissioning Branch (MCID) staff informed of any significant changes in your proposed schedule of decommissioning activities. You will be informed of any changes to our plans for inspections of Dresden Unit-1.

We currently plan to conduct one routine decommissioning safety inspection at Dresden Unit 1 during calendar year 2015. The inspection will focus on your self-assessment and corrective action program, radiological controls, radioactive waste processing and maintenance activities related to SAFSTOR. The inspection procedures we plan to utilize for the inspection are as follows:

Inspection Procedure Title IP 37801 Safety Reviews, Design Changes and Modifications IP 40801 Self-Assessment, Auditing and Corrective Action IP 71801 Decommissioning Performance and Status Review IP 83750 Occupational Radiation Exposure IP 84750 Radioactive Waste Treatment, Effluent and Environmental Monitoring

M. Pacilio In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 2.390 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management system (ADAMS), accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

We will gladly discuss any questions you may have regarding this MIP. If you have questions, please direct them to Mr. Wayne Slawinski at 630-829-9820.

Sincerely,

/RA/
