PROPOSED SCHEDULE FOR THE REVIEW OF ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE APPLICATION FROM ENTERGY NUCLEAR OPERATIONS, INC., FOR RENEWAL OF OPERATING LICENSES FOR INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNIT NOS. 2 AND 3 (TAC NOS. MD5411 AND MD5412)

Dear Sir or Madam:

By letter dated April 23, 2007, Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. (Entergy), submitted an application and associated environmental report pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 51 and 10 CFR Part 54, to renew the operating licenses for Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 2 and 3 (IP2 and IP3), for review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The NRC staff issued its findings related to the environmental review of Entergys license renewal application in the final supplemental environmental impact statements (FSEIS) documented in Supplement 38 to NUREG-1437, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants: Regarding Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 2 and 3, which was issued in December 2010. In June 2013, NRC staff issued a supplement to the FSEIS to document its review of additional information identified subsequent to the issuance of the FSEIS, including corrections to impingement and entrainment data, revised conclusions regarding thermal impacts based on newly available thermal plume studies, and an update of the status of the NRC staff's consultation under section 7 of the Endangered Species Act with the National Marine Fisheries Service regarding the shortnose sturgeon and Atlantic sturgeon.

The NRC staff intends to issue a second supplement to the FSEIS to document its review of additional relevant information identified since the issuance of the the 2013 supplement to the FSEIS. The information to be addressed in the supplement to the FSEIS includes new aquatic impact data, refined cost estimates associated with the licensees SAMA analysis, and other matters. Enclosed is a schedule for the issuance of the supplement to SEIS.

If you have any questions regarding the IP2 and IP3 license renewal environmental review, please contact the NRCs Environmental Project Manager, Mr. Michael Wentzel, at 301-415-6459 or by e-mail at michael.wentzel@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

/RA/

Christopher G. Miller, Director Division of License Renewal Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket Nos. 50-247 and 50-286
