ME7562 AND ME7563)

Dear Mr. Repko:

By letter dated November 9, 2011 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML11318A117), Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (the licensee) submitted a license amendment request for McGuire Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 (McGuire 1 and 2),

Renewed Facility Operating Licenses NPF-9 and NPF-17, respectively, to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff for review. The proposed change would have modified the facility technical specifications by allowing the McGuire 1 and 2 nuclear service water system to be inoperable up to a total of 30 days to allow for the repair of a buried train supply piping from the standby nuclear service water pond. Subsequently, by letter dated December 20, 2011 (ADAMS Accession No. ML11362A398), you withdrew the amendment requests.

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the above-cited application is being treated as withdrawn. NRC staff activities related to review of this submittal have ceased and the associated Technical Assignment Control number has been closed. Notice of Consideration of Issuance of the proposed amendments had not been published in the Federal Register.
