Reference:

Letter from Timothy J. Tulon (Exelon Generation Company, LLC) to U.S.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission, "Response to NRC Follow Up Inspection Report; 05000454/2011010; 05000455/2011010," dated February 18, 2011 In the referenced letter, Exelon Generation Company, LLC (EGC) committed to modifying the Steam Generator (SG) Power Operated Relief Valve (PORV) power supplies with a safety-related battery backup no later than Unit 1's October 2012 refueling outage and Unit 2's May 2013 refueling outage. EGC also indicated a supplemental letter would be issued by October 14, 2011, discussing any revisions to the modification installation schedule based on whether a refuel outage was needed for the installation.

EGC has determined the phYSical connection of the new backup batteries to the installed SG PORV power supplies requires refuel outage conditions. The batteries are ordered and are due to be delivered late November 2011. For Unit 2, a partial installation involving the connected wiring and circuit breaker was completed in the recent 2011 fall refueling outage. Completion of the modification can now occur on-line following battery delivery, work planning activities and scheduling and the physical battery installation and testing.

This is scheduled to occur during the spring 2012 timeframe. Therefore, EGC is able to accelerate the Unit 2 modification completion commitment from the May 2013 refuel outage to no later than June 29, 2012. For Unit 1, the commitment will remain the same with the entire modification completed during the fall 2012 refuel outage.

October 14, 2011 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 In summary, the commitment made in the referenced letter concerning completion date of the Unit 2 modification has been revised to no later than June 29, 2012. The Unit 1 completion date remains the same as no later than Unit 1's October 2012 refuel outage.

The Attachment to this letter contains the revised regulatory commitment made in this letter. Should you have any questions concerning this letter, please contact Mr. David Gudger at (815) 406-2800.
