MAPC just released its demographic and economic development projections for the year 2030 and wish to hold a discussion with practicing planners in the region. During this conversation:

You will hear about how the region is expected to develop over the next 25 years if current trends continue, and get information on trends and data you can use in your daily work.

For example, in 2030 metro Boston will:

o have four major job centers.

o need over 300,000 new housing units, yet maturing suburbs along Route 128 will have the hardest time creating new housing.

o lose 15 acres of open space a day.

o have a water deficit of 12 million gallons per day.

MAPC will share the reactions to these trends that we have heard from diverse groups -

from mayors and state legislators, to human service providers and immigrant groups, to environmental attorneys.

We will solicit your expertise on which trends you would like to see change in the region.
