SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-395/88-32 The NRC Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance (SALP) has been completed for your V. C. Summer facilit The facility was evaluated for the period August 1, 1987 - December 31, 1988. The results of the evaluation are documented in the enclosed Interim SALP Report. This report will be discussed with you at a public meeting to be held at the V. C. Summur facility on March 28, 1989 at 10:00 The performance of your Summer facility was evaluated in the functional areas of plant operations, radiological controls, maintenance / surveillance, emergency preparedness, security, engineering / technical support, and safety assessment /
quality verificatio Overall performance of your Summer facility was satisfactory during this assessment perio Although the functional areas evaluated during this assessment period are not identical to those in the previous period, a close correlation can be made for identifying changes in performance. With the exception of one functional area, the ratings were essentially unchanged from the previous assessment perio Strengths were identified in the areas of Radiological Controls and Maintenance / Surveillanc A significant decline in performance in the area of Security was note Performance in the area of operatns has shown some improvement; however, there is a need for enhanced management attention to operations support tc ensure that accurate procedures and legible drawings are available in the control room.
