Box 399 Hwy. 75 - North of Fort Calhoun Fort Calhoun, Nebraska 68023-0399 SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-285/98-02 Thank you for your letter of April 24,1998, in response to our March 25,1998, letter and Notice of Violation concerning the failure to have a lead quality assurance auditor complete the requirements of the quality aesurance manual prior to conducting independent auditor functions and the failure to initiate two condition reports in a timely manner. We have reviewed your reply and find it responsive to the concems raised in our Notice of"iolation. We will review the implementation of your corrective actions during a future inspection to determine that full compliance has been achieved and will be maintaine In addition, we note your completion of the action committed to NRC regarding your review of self assessments performed within 18 months prior to the issuance of Guideline FCS G-4. Your letter indicated that your staff initiated two additional condition reports following this review. In view of the identified failures to initiate timely condition reports during 1997 and 1998, we encourage you to strengthen management oversight of the corrective action proces
