Unannounced Routine Physical Security' Inspection of Management Support; Protected Area Barriers; Access Control - Personnel,. Packages and Vehicles; Alarm Stations and Communications; Training and Qualification; Followup on Previous Inspection Findings; and Review of Generic Letter 89-07 -
" Land Vehicle Bomb Contingency Procedures." (Sims Item MPA L9-07)
Results: The licensee was found to be in compliance with NRC requirements within the areas examined except for some temporary intrusion detection sensors which did not meet security plan criteria. A weakness in initial qualification methodology for some contingency-related tasks was noted.
All previous security-related inspection findings were reviewed and closed.
Several proposed equipment related upgrade projects and planned specialized.
tactical training for the lead instructor were noted as strengths.
Planning for-the land vehicle bomb threat was completed.
Day-to-day supervision and management of the security organization appeared adequate.
Licensee management was very responsive to the inspection findings
