NRC INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-280/89-03 AND 50-281/89-03 This refers to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) inspection conducted by Messrs. N. Merriweather and C. Paulk on January 23-27, and February 1-2, 1989, respectivel The inspections were performed at your Surry facility and at the General Electric Apparatus Safe Center in Memphis, Tennesse The results of the Surry inspection were discussed with those members of your staff identified in the enclosed inspection repor The results of the Memphis inspection are also included in the inspection report and were discussed with your representatives in Memphi Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the repor Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of activities in progres Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were identifie Your attention is invited to the unresolved item identified in the Inspection Repor This matter will be pursued during future inspection The enclosed Inspection Report also documents an oral commitment (see paragraph 3.b.(6) made by a licensee representative and discussed in the exit intervie If your understanding of this commitment differs from the report statements, please inform this office promptl In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Roo Should you have any questions concerning this letter, please contact u B904040004 890317
