Results:

The licensee was in compliance with NRC requirements in the areas inspected.

MC 30703 - Exit Interview The inspector met with licensee representatives listed in paragraph 1 at the conclusion of the inspection on April 22, 198 The purpose and scope of the inspection were reviewed and the licensee acknowledged the finding No written material was provided to the licensee by the inspector during this inspectio.

MC 92703 - Status of Inspector Followup Items (IFI) (Closed) !FI (50-272/84-31-01 and 50-311/84-31-01):

The licensee briefed the inspector on security program enhancements, including the installation of a new integrated security computer system, new uniforms and associated garments for the guard force, special 11walk thru 11 explosive detectors and modification of the existing metal detector The inspector observed the licensee perform satisfactory performance testson the new and modified equipmen (Closed) !FI (50-272/85-19-01 and 50-311/85-19-01):

The licensee briefed the inspector on a proposed change in the security manage-ment staf The inspector observed that management changes were submitted to NRC in Revision 10 to the physical security pla The security management staff was observed functioning in conformance with the physical security plan and written procedure.

MC 81020 - Management Effectiveness The Manager, Nuclear Security briefed the inspector concerning the drug screening program being implemented for the security forc The program appe~red to be comprehensiv MC 81034 - Security Program Audit The Manager, Nuclear Security stated that the annual Quality Assurance (QA) audits conducted on the overall security program will be expanded to include the Nuclear Employee Data System (NEDS).

The inspector determined that the licensee's program for responding to security threats and other contingencies, as outlined in the NRC-approved SCP for the combined Salem and Hope Creek Site,was adequate by observing the licensee conduct satisfactory drills on April 21, 1986 during the day and at nigh No discrepancies were note The inspector reviewed emergency drill reports that indicate local law enforcement authorities participated in simulated emergency response drills on site (Salem and Hope Creek).
