SUMMARY

REPORT Ladies and Gentlemen:

In accordance with 10 CFR 50.55a, Carolina Power and Light Company, doing business as Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc., submits the attached Inservice Inspection (ISI) Summary Report for the Harris Nuclear Plant (HNP). This report has been prepared in accordance with Section XI of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, 2001 Edition with addenda through 2003, and ASME Code Case N-532-4, as approved in Regulatory Guide 1.147. This report is for HNP's Cycle 14 operations and Refueling Outage No. 14 (RFO-14) of the third 10-year ISI interval.

This document contains no new regulatory commitments.

SUMMARY

The Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1, Third Ten-Year Inservice Inspection (ISI) Plan is being developed to comply with 10CFR50.55a(g), which implements, by reference, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI, 2001 Edition with 2003 Addenda.

The following summary report is being submitted pursuant to the reporting requirements of ASME Section XI as amended by ASME Code Case N-532-4.

This summary report contains the Form OAR-i Owner's Activity Report and Tables 1 and 2 of the Code Case for Harris Nuclear Plant (HNP) during cycle 14 and Refueling Outage No. 14 (RFO-14). This report also covers the Reactor Pressure Vessel 10-year examinations that were completed during RFO-13 but not reported on the NIS-1. No indications were found that required evaluation for continued service. RFO-14 is the first outage of the first period in the third inspection interval, and includes Repair/Replacement Activities from May 17, 2006 (the last submittal) to October 22, 2007.
