, Attachment 1/CY-98-105/Page 1 Question 1 l

l Section 3.0 references data derived from the Radiological Environmental Monitoring Program from the years 1975 - 1985. Why was more recent data not utilized in this process?

Response 1 The Radiological Environmental Monitoring Program (REMP) only took soil samples from 1975 to 1985. No data is available after this date. However, CYAPCO believes this data is valid for establishment of the background levels of Cesium-137.

Question 2 In relation to the previously referenced data, was the 3.8 pC!/gm value decay corrected?

Response 2 The 3.8 pCi/gm value was not decay corrected in the original version of the Technical Support Document. The revised version of the Technical Support Document, transmitted via CYAPCO letter dated June 12,1998<2) contains a new value of 2.6 pCi/gm which has been corrected for decay.
