Dear Ms. DiNoia:

NPDES Permit No. CT 0003123 Di_acharae Monitorina Renort Revision

]

A review of plant records in connection with Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power j

Company's preparation ofits 1997 NPDES permit renewal application has identified the need to correct a nitrite value for DSN 001-A, Test Tanks that wu reported in its l

September 1995 Discherge Monitoring Report (DMR) (Reference). On September 6, j

1995, a Test Tank was analyzed for nitrite in accordance with the NPDES permit. The permitted nitrite limit is 0.05 mg/L. An initial nitrite concentration of 0.054 mg/L was i

obtained. The Test Tank sample was re-analyzed with a resulting nitrite concentration of

(

0.044 mg/L, While the average of these twc values (0.049 mg/L) was reported in the DMR for the first of two monthly samples, the maximum value for the month should have been reported as 0.054 mg/L instead of 0.049 mg/L. Accordingly, a revised DMR page including all sample results for that discharge is attached.

j Should you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact Mr. Paul Jacobson at (860) 447-1791 ext. 2335.
