This event did not have an adverse effect on the health and safety of the public.

This revision reports the results of special testing performed on Main Steam Safety Valves to confirm the effectiveness of corrective actions taken to preclude valve lift outside required tolerances. The corrective actions were not validated. Therefore, this report discusses additional j actions to address this issue. Changes are indicated by revision bars. Another supplement to this l licensee event report will be submitted to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission by August 1,1998 {

to discuss the results of the root cause investigation and long term corrective actions.
