Thecondition assessment reportprovidedtotheNRCemphasized thattheincidentisanisolatedone,andthatitisunlikelytooccurinotherhousings.

Furthermore, evenifitweretooccuranditledtoseverence ofapartlengthhousing,theeventhasalreadybeenconsidered aspartoftheplantdesignbasis;therefore, thereisnosafetyconcern.TheaffectedWOGmemberutilities metonMarch2,1998,toreviewanddiscussthesameinformation presented totheNRC.Theoutcomeofthismeetingwastheformation ofasubgroupthatwillcontinuetosupportWestinghouse memberutilities inresponding tothisissue.Fromthediscussions atthatmeeting,theWOGRRGrecommended thattheaffectedutilities voluntarily considernotifying theNRCoftheirplanstoaddressthisissue.Forplantscurrently inrefueling orcoldshutdown, itwasrecommended thattheutilities dockettheirplanstoaddressthisissuewithinthirtydays,orpriortostartup.Thisletterprovidesourpresentplansforaddressing theCRDMhousingissueatCookNuclearPlant.Anultrasonic inspection ofthe.eightpart~lengthCRDMswillbeperformed forunits1and2.,Theinspection will=beperformed, ontheupperandlowerpressure.
