| Title | Water Intrusion in the 480 Volt Room During Hurricane Irene |
| Description | During Hurricane Irene's impact at Indian Point on August 28, 2011, operations personnel identified water intrusion in the 480 volt room. Water was entering the room through the seals around SW piping that penetrated the wall between the transformer yard and the 480 volt room. Operations personnel identified that the drain nearest to the water intrusion was plugged, and used a catch basin to direct the water to another drain. Operations personnel also placed sandbags around the 480 volt switchgear. The inspectors walked down the area during the hurricane and determined no water impacted the operation of the 480 volt switchgear. The inspectors are opening an URI to review the licensee's evaluation of the causes of the water intrusion into the 480 volt room and determine if there is a performance deficiency. Entergy personnel wrote CR-IP2-2011-4324 to address this issue. |
