MEETING

SUMMARY

- FUEL HANDLING BUILDING VENTILATION MODIFICATIONS AT TMI-1 On July 21, 1986, a meeting was held at the TMI site to review modifications-to the fuel handling building ventilation system. These modifications are -

being installed as a result of the TMI-1 restart hearings. Enclosed is a list-ef attendees.

The meeting consisted of a detailed walkdown of the new system with numerous questions raised and answered. The plan of action as a result of the meeting .

includes the following:

1 (a) Relatively quickly (hopefully before the end of July), a conference call will be held between GPUN and NRR to resolve concerns on the radiological aspects of accidents in the fuel handling building..

(b) After the above conference call, NRR will send a formal request for additional information for items necessary to be placed on the docket.

(c) GPUN is to submit a technical specification amendment to cover the addition of a new release point. There are several questions which need to be resolved either as a result of this amendment request or the responses to part (b) above. First, GDC-19 concerns should be addressed in the amendment. Second, GPUN must document how they intend to demonstrate a negative pressure exists in the FHB under j accident conditions. It is noted that the NRC staff currently desires a direct measurement whereas GPUN probably will offer a ,

different approach.
