SUMMARY

OF MAY 12, 1989 MEETING WITH GPU NUCLEAR ON CURRENT LICENSING ISSUES The NRC staff met with representatives of GPU Nuclear Corporation (GPUN) at the'TMI Site near Middletown, Pennsylvania on May 12, 1989 to discuss the status and future actions of all active licensing issues. is a list of attendees at the meeting. is a listing of the activities discussed during the meeting.

The licensing activities as listed on Enclosure 2 provided the basis for the discussions. Changes to future actions ano dates on the list were specifically discussed.

The current GPUN licensing activities list (Enclosure 2) contains 2 priority A items,13 priority B items and 16 priority C item (GPUN priorities). Of these items, the NRC has the next action on 13 items, GPUN has the next action on the remaining 18 items. The only pending amendment request is TSCR No. 190, dealing with removal of cycle-specific core limits from the Technical Specifications. GPUN was requested to submit a supplement to this request to address a number of improvements as discussed during the meeting.

GPUN discussed a forthcoming amendment request which would incorporate EPRI guidelines into the steam generator tube inspection technical specifications.

The request is scheduled for submittal in May or June and GPUN has asked for response to the request by October 1, 1989.
