- ;6 1.0 Summary This report summarizes the radiological effluent released l om the Fort St. Vrain Nuclear Generating Station for the- period

-July _through December, 1984. In addition,-Table 3.1 provides a

-general . summary of the ~ plant systems .under radiological surveillance, and Table 4.1 summarizes the solid radioactive waste removed from the site during the aforementioned time pe ri od.- This information is provided pursuant to the

. requirements of Section 7.5.le of the Fort St. Vrain Technical Specifications.

Tritium 'was the radionuclide of principal interest released via the liquid pathway. during the second half .of 1984.

Approximately 100 curies;were released to the unrestricted area via batch and continuous releases. This tritium resulted primarily' from removal of' moisture from the Primary Coolant System.

Xenon 133 was the predominant radioisotope released from the station via the gaseous pathway, with approximately 'll curies being discharged.

In. accordance with the Fort St. Vrain Offsite Dose Calculation Manual. the dose due to radioactive liquid and gaseous- releases made'in 1984 was as foll,ows: "

. Whole Body 4.4E-4 mrem Organ (maximum) 4.7E-3 mrem Gas - 10CFR20 Iodine, Particulates, Tritium 8.0E-1 mrem As can be seen, the maximum whole body exposure to a member of the public from Fort St.'Vrain releases in 1984 was 1.1 mrem, well within the 40CFR190 limit. The maximum organ exposure was 1.3 mrem.

No solid radioactive low level waste was removed from the station during this reporting period.

There were no unplanned gaseous or liquid radioactive releases from the site to the unrestricted area during this reporting period.

During the second half of 1984, one change was made to the Process Control Program (PCP), and three changes were made to the Offsite Dose Calculation Manual (CDCM). The PCP change involved only a' change in number, from Radiation Protection Administrative Procedure (RPAP) 3 to Support Services Manager Administrative Procedure (SUSMAP) 3. The ODCM changes consisted of corrections to the radioactive gaseous effluent stack radiation monitors setpoints, addition of.a clarification step regarding alarm setpoints lower than the calculated values being acceptable (conservative), and a change in title from RPAP-2 to SUSMAP-2.

No new dose calculation or environmental monitoring locations were identified during this report period.

No licensee-initiated major changes to the radioactive waste systems were made during this reporting period.
