UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 August 26, 2016 Mr. Reid Nelson, Director Office of Federal Agency Programs Advisory Council on Historic Preservation 401 F Street NW, Suite 308 Washington, DC 20001-2637

SUBJECT:

NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF THE FINAL SUPPLEMENTAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT FOR LICENSE RENEWAL OF LASALLE COUNTY STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2

Dear Mr. Nelson:

Please find enclosed a copy of the final NUREG-1437, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Supplement 57, Regarding LaSalle County Station, Units 1 and 2. The final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) is being issued as part of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) process to decide whether to issue a renewed operating license to Exelon Generation Company, LLC for LaSalle County Station, Units 1 and 2 (LSCS). In the final SEIS, the NRC staff determined that the adverse environmental impacts of license renewal for LSCS are not so great that preserving the option of license renewal for energy planning decision-makers would be unreasonable. In the context of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, NRC staff determined that no historic properties would be affected by the proposed action (license renewal). The final Environmental Impact Statement will accompany the final Safety Evaluation Report to be considered in the Commissions license renewal decision-making process.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Robert Hoffman, Environmental Scientist, at 301-415-1107 or by e-mail at Robert.Hoffman@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

/RA/

James G. Danna, Chief Environmental Review and Projects Branch Division of License Renewal Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket Nos. 50-373 and 50-374
