Dear Mr. McKinney:

On September 13, 2006, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) received PPLSusquehanna, LLC application for renewal of Operating License No. NPF-14 and NPF-22 for Susquehanna Steam Electric Station (SSES), Units 1 and 2. We are currently performing an acceptance review for docketing in accordance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code ofFederal Regulations Section 2.101 (10 CFR 2.101), and will notify you of the results of ourreview. Should the NRC staff determine that the application is acceptable for docketing, aschedule for the review will then be provided to you.We have enclosed for your information a copy of the notice relating to your application that isbeing sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.I am pleased to announce the appointment of Yoira Diaz Sanabria as the project manager forthe safety review, and Alicia Mullins as the project manager for the environmental review ofyour license renewal application. Please forward copies of all license renewal correspondence to Yoira Diaz Sanabria and Alicia Mullins. NPF-14 AND NPF-22FOR AN ADDITIONAL 20-YEAR PERIODDOCKET NOS. 50-387 AND 50-388The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or Commission) has received anapplication, dated September 13, 2006, from PPL Susquehanna, LLC., filed pursuant to Section103 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and Title 10 of the Code of FederalRegulations Part 54 (10 CFR Part 54), to renew the operating license (NPF-14 and NPF-22) forthe Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2. Renewal of the license would authorizethe applicant to operate the facility for an additional 20-year period beyond the period specifiedin the current operating license. The current operating license for the Susquehanna SteamElectric Station, Units 1 and 2 (NPF-14 and NPF-22) expires on July 17, 2022 and March 23, 2024 respectively. The Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2 are boiling waterreactors designed by General Electric. The units are located in Berwick, PA. The acceptabilityof the tendered application for docketing, and other matters including an opportunity to request a hearing, will be the subject of subs equent Federal Register notices.Copies of the application are available for public inspection at the Commission's PublicDocument Room (PDR), located at One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike (first floor),Rockville, Maryland, 20582 or electronically from the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Public Electronic Reading Room under Accession NumberML062630217.
