UNITED NUCLEAR REGULATORY WASHINGTON, D.C.
August 9, 2011 Mr. David A. Heacock President and Chief Nuclear Officer Dominion Nuclear Dominion Energy Kewaunee, Inc. Innsbrook Technical Center 5000 Dominion Boulevard Glen Allen, VA 23060-6711 KEWAUNEE POWER STATION -WITHDRAWAL OF A REQUEST FOR ALTERNATIVE TEST REQUIREMENTS FOR LARGE-BORE HYDRAULIC SNUBBERS (TAC NO. ME4722)
Dear Mr. Heacock:
Bya letter dated September 7,2010 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML102520078), as supplemented by a letter dated January 26, 2011 (ADAMS Accession No. ML110280056), you submitted a request to establish alternate test requirements for the Kewaunee Power Station large-bore hydraulic snubbers.
In your submittal you stated that the proposed alternate test requirements are intended to eliminate the potential for unplanned functional testing of these snubbers while providing an acceptable level of safety and quality. Subsequently, by letter dated June 27,2011 (ADAMS Accession No. ML111791687), you withdrew the request for the alternate test requirements.
In your withdrawal letter you stated that you intend to address alternate test requirements for large-bore hydraulic snubbers in the submittal of the Inservice Inspection Program for the fifth 10-year inspection interval (2014-2024) rather than in a separate licensing action. The purpose of this letter is to advise you that the above-cited application is being treated as withdrawn.
