0ip4' Calc0M-SLD-003Page7of20RelativeHumidityRoomHeightTheoutsideambienttemperaturewastakenas'9~F(summer)and264F(winter).ThesummerambientwastakenfromReference2.8asthe24hourdailyaveragetemperature,baseduponthe14ASHRAEdesignvalue,,fortheWilkes-Barre/Scrantonarea.ThewintervaluewastakenastheactualmonthlyaverageforJanuaryovertheyears1986thru1989.ThisaveragewasbaseduponSSESMeteorologicalDatatakenfromtheplantcomputer.AcomparisonofFebruarydataoverthissametimeperiodindicatedthattheJanuarydatawasmoreconservative.Therelativehumidityforallroomsconnectedbyventilationorleakagepathsisbaseduponoutsideairtemperaturesof92FDB/78FWB(summer)and-5FDB/-5~FWB(winter).Airatthese"conditionswasthenallowedtoheatuporcooldown(sensibleheating/coolingonly)totheinitialroomtemperature,andthecorrespondingRHvaluecalculatedorreadfromthepsychrometricchart.ThisvalueisnolongerusedbyCOTTAP.It'originalpurposewasassociatedwiththewallcondensationcalculationusedwithinCOTTAP.COTTAPhasbeenrevisedandnolongerusesthisinformation.Therefore,avalueof10.0ftwasinputtedforeachroom.Thisvaluehasnosignificancetothecalculation.Notethattheactualroomheightwasusedinthecalculationofroomvolume.4.2AirflowandLeakagePathDataAirflowDataThedesignairflowisprovidedfortheroomunderconsideration.Allflowpathsareidentified(i.e.supply,exhaustandtransferair).ThesourceoftheairflowdataistheP&IDassociatedwiththeparticularventilationsystemforthatroom.Thedataidentifiestheroomfromwhichtheaircomes,andtheroomtowhichtheairgoes.Sinceairflowsarebalancedtog104accuracy,aconservativevalueof1760scfmwasusedforroomI-13/I-103(1600scfmx1.1).Avalueof1210scfmwasusedforroomI-14/I-104(1100scfmx1.1).

lp~lt0)hl'J1P CalcgM-SLD-003Page5of203'ASSUMPTIONS1)2)3)4)5)Plantisoperatingundernormalconditionspriortointroducingasteam/waterleak.Alladjacentroomswillbemaintainedattheirdesignmaximumtemperatureforsummerconditionsandattheaveragetemperatureforthe,monthof.January(ifblue-boxdataisavailable)forwinterconditions.Wherewintertemperaturedataisnotavailable,thedesignminimumtemperatureof60~Fwillbeused.Theroomunderconsiderationwillnotbeallowedtopressurize,astheblowoutpanelwillrelieveatapproximately0.5psid.Therefore,aleakagepathoutoftheroomwillbeusedtomaintainpressureascloseto14.7psiaaspossible.Thetemperatureeffectsduetoslightroompressurizationareassumedtobenegligeble.Theeffectsofadjacentroomheatuparenotconsideredinthisanalysis(i.e.adjacentroomtemperaturesareheldconstant).Thisresultsinaconservativetemperatureprofilefortheroomunderconsideration.Theactualadjacentroomheatupduetothewaterleakisexpectedtobeminimal(whenconsideringconductiveheatlosses).TheCOTTAPmodelassumesperfectmixingoftheairandwater/steamintheroomunderconsideration.Theoriginal'BechtelCalc4176-23usedtheSteamCondensingModeofRHRasthebasisforthesteamleaktotheRHRPumprooms.Inpreviousoutages,thismodeofRHRwasremoved.Thehighenergypiping(steamlinefromHPCI)associatedwiththismodeofoperationnolongerexistsintheRHRPumprooms.Therefore,thiscalculationwillusetheShutdownCooling(SDC)modeofRHRasthebasisforthewater/steamleakintheRHRPumprooms.TheSDCmodeinitiatesonthe98psig(RXPressure)permissive.At98psig,thelinesarewarmedbyprocedureforapproximately2hoursbeforeSDCmodeactuallystarts.Duringthistime,theRXisbeingcooleddownat,amaximumallowedrateof90~F/hr.Forconservatism,thiscalculationwillusesaturatedwaterat14.7psiaand212Fasthestartingconditionsfortheleak.Theseconditionsapproximatetheminimumrequiiementswhichdefinehighenergypiping.RHRSDCisconsideredhighenergypipingforaveryshortperiodoftime(i.e.<14ofthetime).

1npA1'l 4.0METHODOLOGYCalcgM-SLD-003Page6of20TheCompartmentTransientTemperatureAnalysisProgram(COTTAP)wasusedtoanalyzetheaffectsofasteam/waterleakinvariousroomswithintheplant.Theprogrampredictedtemperatureprofilesfortheroomunderconsiderationwiththefollowingsetofconditions1)5gpmwaterleak(Summer)2)5gpmwaterleak(Winter)3)25gpmwaterleak(Summer)4)25gpmwaterleak(Winter)Theindividualroommodelsweredevelopedfromvarioussourcesofinformation,asidentifiedinSection2.0References.TheresultswillconsistoftheCOTTAPoutputandtheplotsofvariousprofilesfortheconditionsstatedabove.Thefollowingdiscussionisprovidedtooutlinethestepsusedindevelopingtheindividualroommodels.4.1GeneralDataForRoomsRoomVolumesInitialPressureInitialTemperatureTheroomvolumewastakenfromReference2.1fortheroomunderconsideration.Adjacentroomvolumesweresettoalargevalue(i.e.1.0EE15cu.ft.)tomaintainconstantpropertiessuchastemperature,pressureandrelativehumidity.Allroomswereassumedtobeataninitialpressureof14.7psia.Allroomswereassumedtobeattheirmaximumnormaldesigntemperatureinitiallyforsummerconditions.Actualwinterdatawasused,whereavailable,asastartingpointforthewinterruns.Thewinterdatawastakenasthe"blue-box"averagetemperatureforJanuary1988.TheJanuarydatawasconsideredtobemoreconservativethanFebruarydata.Whereactualwinterdatawasnotavailable,thedesignminimumroomtemperatureof60'wasused.Wherewinterdatawasnotavailablefortheroominquestion,theroomwasstartedatatemperaturewhichallowsittoreachasteady-statewithitsadjacentrooms.

0ip4' Calc0M-SLD-003Page7of20RelativeHumidityRoomHeightTheoutsideambienttemperaturewastakenas'9~F(summer)and264F(winter).ThesummerambientwastakenfromReference2.8asthe24hourdailyaveragetemperature,baseduponthe14ASHRAEdesignvalue,,fortheWilkes-Barre/Scrantonarea.ThewintervaluewastakenastheactualmonthlyaverageforJanuaryovertheyears1986thru1989.ThisaveragewasbaseduponSSESMeteorologicalDatatakenfromtheplantcomputer.AcomparisonofFebruarydataoverthissametimeperiodindicatedthattheJanuarydatawasmoreconservative.Therelativehumidityforallroomsconnectedbyventilationorleakagepathsisbaseduponoutsideairtemperaturesof92FDB/78FWB(summer)and-5FDB/-5~FWB(winter).Airatthese"conditionswasthenallowedtoheatuporcooldown(sensibleheating/coolingonly)totheinitialroomtemperature,andthecorrespondingRHvaluecalculatedorreadfromthepsychrometricchart.ThisvalueisnolongerusedbyCOTTAP.It'originalpurposewasassociatedwiththewallcondensationcalculationusedwithinCOTTAP.COTTAPhasbeenrevisedandnolongerusesthisinformation.Therefore,avalueof10.0ftwasinputtedforeachroom.Thisvaluehasnosignificancetothecalculation.Notethattheactualroomheightwasusedinthecalculationofroomvolume.4.2AirflowandLeakagePathDataAirflowDataThedesignairflowisprovidedfortheroomunderconsideration.Allflowpathsareidentified(i.e.supply,exhaustandtransferair).ThesourceoftheairflowdataistheP&IDassociatedwiththeparticularventilationsystemforthatroom.Thedataidentifiestheroomfromwhichtheaircomes,andtheroomtowhichtheairgoes.Sinceairflowsarebalancedtog104accuracy,aconservativevalueof1760scfmwasusedforroomI-13/I-103(1600scfmx1.1).Avalueof1210scfmwasusedforroomI-14/I-104(1100scfmx1.1).
