The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is continuing its review of your application  for the renewal of Facility Operating License No. R-84, dated June 24, 2004, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML041800067), as supplemented, for the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute (AFRRI) Research Reactor. The license renewal review includes an NRC staff review of the AFRRI Physical Security Plan (PSP) dated June 27, 2001, for compliance with the regulations contained in  Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 73 with modifications as outlined in Regulatory Guide 5.59, and site specific commitments found in Confirmatory Action Letter dated October 21, 2003. We completed our review of your PSP, and identified additional information and clarification to questions that arose during our review. Provide responses to the enclosed request for additional information (RAI) within 30 days from the date of this letter. In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 50.30(b), you must execute your response in a signed, original document under oath or affirmation. Your response must be submitted in accordance with 10 CFR 50.4, "Written communications."  Information included in your response that is considered sensitive or proprietary, that you seek to have withheld from the public, must be marked in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, "Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding."  Any information related to security should be submitted in accordance with 10 CFR 73.21, "Protection of Safeguards Information:  Performance Requirements."  Following receipt of the additional information, we will continue our evaluation of your renewal request.
