Under provisions of 10 CFR 50.30, the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute hereby applies to renew the operating license for its 1 MW TRIGA research reactor (License R-84, Docket 50-170) located in Bethesda, Maryland.
The current license expires on August 1, 2004 and this application is submitted at least 30 days prior to expiration as required by 10 CFR 2.109(a). We request that the operating license be renewed for a period of 20 years from the date that the renewal license amendment is issued.
The following items, required by 10 CFR 50.33, are included as part of this application:
- 1. Safety Analysis Report
- 2. Applicant's Environmental Report
- 3. Technical Specifications
- 4. Reactor Emergency Plan
- 5. Reactor Physical Security Plan
- 6. Reactor Operator Requalification Program
- 7. Financial Qualifications and Decommissioning Information
- 8. Statement describing proposed changes to current NRC-approved items 3-6.
Under provisions of 10 CFR 2.790, the Reactor Physical Security Plan is to be withheld from public disclosure.
