RES SUPPORT OF AE00 SPECIAL STUDY USING BROOKHAVEN NUCLEAR PLANT ANALYZER AE00 has prepared a Special Study based on the March 9, 1988 event at LaSalle which includes parameter traces from the Brookhaven Nuclear Plant Analyzer.
You will be receiving a copy of that report under separate cover. During that event, both recircslation pumps-tripped and neutronic thermohydraulic oscillations developed which grew in magnitude until the plant tripped on high neutron flux. With the assistance of your staff (Messrs. Shotkin and Scott)                  ,
and funding we were able to use Brookhaven to run the BWR Nuclear Plant Analyzer which gave us insights into the expected reactivity oscillations during this type of event and the effects of other plant actions such as restart of the recirculation pumps and closure of the MSIVs.
We appreciate the support and cooperation we received in this effort from RES and Brookhaven.
