SUPPLEMENT TO REQUEST FOR AMENDMENT BORON CONCENTRATION REDUCTION SALEM GENERATING STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 FACILITY OPERATING LICENSES DPR-70 AND DPR-75 DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 In accordance with the requirements of 10CFR50.90, Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) hereby transmits a supplement to the request for amendment of Facility Operating Licenses DPR-70 and DPR-75 for Salem Unit Nos. 1 and 2. Pursuant to the requirements of 10CFR50.9l(b) (1), a copy of this request for amendment has been sent to the State of New Jersey.

The NRC's concern for the bases used to calculate the Boron Concentration in the Reactor Coolant System at a given temperature is addressed in Appendix 4 of Attachment 3 of the proposed change (PSE&G letter NLR-N93077 dated June 11, 1993) and is based on the Westinghouse Cycle Specific Calculation for Salem 1 and 2, WCAP-13380 and WCAP-12534 respectively. These Cycle Specific Calculations are based on the Westinghouse Advance Nodal Computer Code, WCAP-10965-P-A, December 1985 and Nuclear Design System for Pressurized Water Reactor Cores, WCAP-11596-P-A, June 1988. Both WCAP-10965-P-A and WCAP-11596-P-A are NRC approved documents.

Attachment 1 contains updated pages with the editorial changes and corrections that superseded page 3/4 1-17(a) and 3/4 1-12(a) of Attachment 2 and page A4-4 of Attachment 3, of the proposed change in our letter NLR-N93077 dated June 11, 1993. On pages 3/4 1-17(a) and 3/4 1-12(a), the nominal measured volume in the Boric Acid Tank (BAT) as a percentage was added to the graph.

This makes it consistent with the. Control Room indication for the BAT volume. At the end of the first paragraph on page A4-4, the figure numbers A5-1 and A5-2 have been corrected to A4-1 and A4-2 respectively.
