SUMMARY

South Texas Project Unit 1 began the reporting period operating at full power.

On November 16, at 2042 hours0.0236 days
0.567 hours
0.00338 weeks
7.76981e-4 months
, Unit 1 was manually tripped in response to a perceived loss of all pressure associated with the Open Loop Cooling Water System. The apparent loss of pressure in the Open Loop Cooling Water system was induced by a failure of the pump casing on Circulating Water Pump 11. A pressure spike that occurred when the pump discharge valve failed closed caused the pump casing failure.

Repairs were made and the unit was returned to service on November 24, at 1520. Full power was achieved on November 25, at 1154.
