DOCKET NO.: 50-331 DATE: 09/10/99 Unit: Duane Arnold Energy Center COMPLETED BY: Richard Woodward TELEPHONE: (319) 851-7318 Monthly Operational Overview for August 1999

'lhe DAEC began the month of August having just reduced power (at 23:00 on July 31") to perform a control rod sequence exchange. Control rod adjustments to change load-line occurred the 2*',6*,17*,24*, and 31" Another sequence exchange was performed August 27* and 28*.

Of the 744 clock-hours during the month of August, DAEC produced the equivalent of 726.15 full-power-hours-equivalent FPH,(Gross Electric Capacity factor: 97.6%). Capacity losses totaled 4.85 FPIly , efficiency losses totaled 0.40 FPII,, and hot weather-related circ-water / condenser / cooling tower losses were 12.60 FPH,.

At the end of August the DAEC had operated 77 days since the last shutdown.
