Dear Daniel Ashworth:

This is regarding the BWXT Nuclear Operations Group, Inc. - Lynchburg (BWXT NOG-L) submittal dated June 25, 2024, requesting U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approval of a license amendment request for proposed changes to license condition SG-5.6 of special nuclear materials license number 42 (SNM-42) to align with related changes to its Fundamental Nuclear Material Control Plan (FNMCP) and Chapter 1 of the BWXT NOG-L License Application. In that submittal, the incoming cover letter is not publicly available due to the sensitive, security-related information contained therein and the enclosure to the cover letter is also not publicly available because of its classified designation. The NRC staffs review of the application has identified that additional information is needed before final action can be taken.

The additional information, specified in the enclosure, should be provided within 30 days from the date of this letter.

Pending your response, we anticipate completing our review by December 30, 2024. This date could change depending on the findings of our technical review, urgent assignments, or other factors. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this schedule.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 2 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this email will be available for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or electronically from the Publicly Available Records System component of ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/readingrm/adams.html. The PDR is open by appointment.
