DEC I 61993 Recional Office Notice No. 0503 READINESS FOR RESTART OF BRUNSWICK UNIT 1 A.

Purpose:

To inform the Region 11 staff of the intent of Carolina Power and Light Company to restart Brunswick Unit 1 in the near future and to identify issues that may be adverse to this recomendation which have not previously been identified.

B.

Discussion:

As the restart date of this facility approaches, it becomes essential that all issues, which may impact on the restart, are protnotly identified.

However, in the event that issues exist which have not been identified to management and which could impact on the restart of this facility, this Notice affords the technical staff another opportunity to bring those issues to the attention of management.

C.

Action:

Any member of the technical staff who has performed inspections or evaluations of the licensee's performance, or has information concerning this facility that causes concern with regard to restart of the facility, should contact their Section Chief or Branch Chief imediately.

Since restart of Brunswick Unit 1 is anticipated to occur in late January 1994, it is requested that your comments be received by January 3,1994.

Items identified as a result of this Notice are to be brought to the attention of the DRP Director by the Director of the affected Divisions.
