MEMORANDUM FOR:
T. A. Nash, Allegation Coordinator
FROM:
L. E. Martin, Chief, Project Section B, Reactor Project
Branch
SUBJECT:
ALLEGATION 4-84-A-076
_
The technical concerns of this individual and the followup to these concerns
are contained in report 50-482/85-03.
The issue of termination, as a result of talking with tha NRC, was followed up
by KG&E Quality First and the NRC.
I talked with the individual and with the
party responsible for preparing the reduction in force list.
The individual was a contractor employee involved in the diesel generator
startup testing program. The individual was terminated as a result of a
reduction in force, but when KG&E became aware of the possible harassment
issue, the individual was immediately rehired without any loss in pay. The
individual retained his position until the completion of the D.G. testing,
approximately 2 weeks later.
As a result of this concern, KG&E management immediately began preparing R0F
lists notifying individuals of the sequence that personnel could anticipate
further reduction in work force,.
The individual did not loose any pay and never actually left the site. The
party that recommended the individual for termination stated that he was using
a schedule that indicated that the D.G. testing was complete, and therefore,
,
thought the individual's job was complete.
The issue of harassment was not substantiated, but the appearance was there.
KG&E actions were considered prompt and appropriate for correcting this
matter.
On the basis of inspection report 50/482/85-03 and the above information, this
allegation is considered closed.
