Follow-up contact with alleger Mr. Staggs called today to say that he had asked his other "on-the-record" tource to call NRC, but that the source had not actually committed to calling us.

Staggs also felt that my call to his managing editor was out of line, so I again explained that we are expected to make ever,y reasonable effort to obtain information which may be significant to public safety.

Staggs asked when the board meeting would be held on his allegation.

I responded that it would probably be within the next two'woeks.
