BSTORICAL RLE To describe the method by which QC' Inspectors will verify that placement of reinforcing steel and embedded items meet require-ments of the drawings and References 1-A and 1-B.
2.2 SCOPE Inspection of reinforcir.g steel, mi scellaneous steel and em-bedded items prior to concrete placement. Inspection of mechanical and electrical embedded itens are not part of this activity, but their installation shall be coordinated with the respective discipline QC Inspector.

Page 2 of 5 SEP 111934 3.0 INSTRUCTION 3.1 INSPECTION REQUIREENTS 3.1.1 Reinforcing Steel, The following itms shall be specifically verified by QC Inspectors for compliance with the contract documents:
a.
Reinforcing steel is the correct size as detailed.
b.
The required number of bars are installed and properly spaced.
c.
Proper concrete cover maintained within tolerance to fonnwork and finish grade lines, d.
Lap splices meet design requirments.
e.
Colum and shear ties are the correct size and accurately loca ted.
f.
Beam stirrups are the correct size, numbe r and s pacing,
g.
Dowels are installed with correct anthorage length.
h.
Mat or slab bars have the correct orientation.

Cut rebar confonns to applicable design documentation and/or design changes.
3.1.2 Miscellaneous Steel and Embedded Items The following itms shall be specifically verified fo r corppliance with the contract documents by QC Inspectors.
a.
Location of its as detailed and rigidly secured.
b.
Anchor bolts the correct
- size, type,
location and nunbe r, c.
Projection of anchor bolts fram the concrete is correct and bolt threads have adequate protection.

Waterstops are accurately installed.

Page 3 of 5 SEP 111984 3.2 TRACEABILITY OF SAFETY RELATED MISCELLANE0US STEEL ITEMS Traceability of vendor-supplied miscellaneous steel items issued by the warehouse or itens originating from the miscellaneous steel fabrication shop, will be accomplished by use of the B&R Material Requisition in the following nunner:
a.
Obtain a copy of the Material Requisition accompanying the iten from the responsible craft superintendent / designee, b.
Verify that the Material Requisition reflects the quantity, description / tag nunber, heat / lot / serial number and intended use, including complete location of the item.
c.
Verify that the B&R receiving or fabrication shop QC Inspector has initialed on the Material Requisition that the itens are acceptable for installation.
d.
Verify that the installed item is physically identical, and bears the same heat or unique number, as the iten described p
on the Material Requisition.

Attach the Material Requisition to the Concrete Pour Card for subsequent filing in accordance with Reference 1-C.
l 3.3 NONCONFORMANCES Nonconfo nning condi tions shall be reported in accordance with Reference 1-D.
3.4 DOCUMENTATION OF INSPECTION I
Ins pections shall be docunented on the Inspection Report (Figure 1) and processed in accordance with Reference 1-C.
