3.0 INSTRUCTION 3.1 PRE-POUR PLANNING The QC Inspector will verify that the pre-planning provisions of Regulatory Guide 1.55 are being complied with. 'Ihis spe-cifically means a demonstrated awareness that items such as cleanliness, availability of persongel and placing equipment, placing sequence and alternate construction joint locations have been provided for.

On containment wall and dome placements, or those considered complex by the Civil Inspection Supervisor, the planning shall be in written form.

3.2 INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS 3.2.1 Pr ior to Placement Immediately prior t'o placement, the QC Inspector shall verify the following items:

a.

Pour card sign-off by Crafts and Engineers.

Formwork for stability, line and grade, tightness of joints and cleanliness.

c.

Dimensions of seismic air gap are in compliance with draw-ings, and gap is protected from intrusion of foreign ob-

jects, d.

Proper installation of expanded metal construction joints.

e.

Construction joints clean and thoroughly wetted with no standing water.

f.

Adequacy of placing personnel and equipment.

3.2.2 During Placement During placement, the QC Inspector shall verify the following items:

a.

Placing sequence conforms to the pre-pour plan.

O b.

Placement rate ensures proper integration with preceding lift.

c.

Concrete lifts do not exceed 18".

d.

Placement technique causes minimum segregation.

e.

Vibrators not used to convey concrete more than three feet.

f.

Vibrators penetrate approximately four inches into pre-ceding lift.

g.

Vibrators operate at minimum 8000 I.P.M.

(Document on inspection report) h.

Record four concrete temperature measurements on inspection report.

i. Trucks discharged before 45 minutes if ambient temperature above 85 F., or 90 minutes if approved by Engineer.

J.

Concrete does not contact aluminum.

k.

Concrete placed to proper grade.
