OCT 161984 MEMORANDUM FOR:

G. Lear, Chief, Structural & Geotechnical Engineering Branch, Division of Engineering, NRR FROM:

L. C. Shao, Deputy Director, Division of Engineering Technology, RES

SUBJECT:

NEED FOR D. C. JENG'S CONTINUED EFFORT IN COMANCHE PEAK ALLEGATION RESOLUTION Since July 1984, David C. Jeng, has assisted me with his excellent effort 1

in managing a group of civil / structural experts in a Comanche Peak related technical reviews task to resolve 57 complex allegations.

The task has progressed according to the planned schedule including a recent completfon

~

of presenting key task findings to the NRR management.

Our assessment of future task needs in the civil / structural area indicate that Mr. Jeng's continued full-time contribution in his present capacity will be needed till the end of October 1984.

His part-time contribution till the end of December 1984 will also be required to dispose of issues which may be raised after the issuance of the SSLRs and any followup work related to Comanche Peak ASLB hearing proceedings.

Your continued support in providing Mr. Jeng's valuable assistance will be appreciated.
