3.0 ESIRUCTION 3.1 INSPECTION REQJIRBETIS 3.1.1 Preplacanent Inspection The QC Inspector shall verify the follcuing requirments:

a.

Oil, grease, dirt, loose concrete and laitance renoved fr m concrete surface to receive grout, b.

Oil, grease, dirt and other coatings renoved frm under-side of base plate and bolts prior to placanent of base plate.

Concrete surfaces kept wet for two hours minimtzn prior to c.

grout placment, or lenger if reemmended by ccmnercial grout nanufacturer, d.

Grout card sign-off empleted by crafts and Engineers.

Forms strong enough to withstand grout pressure head.

Vent holes to avoid air pockets shall be provided as detailed or approved by the. Engineer.

i. Verify correct tool and material availability at placing area.
j. Correct method of grouting selected for the particular application.

k.

Formwork, baseplate, and the area that will receive grout -

must be raised to a mininxn temerature of 500, before F

grouting can begin.

3.1.2 Grout Placenent Inspection Ib./

'Ihe OC Inspector shall verify the following grout placement requirements:

6 a.

'Ihe tatperature of mixing water cannot exceed 80 F for Master Builders 713/636 or 95 F for Gifford-Hill Suprene.

b.

Proportion of materials in accordance with specifications or approved grout manufacturer's instructions, Mixing time in accordance with specifications or manu-c.

facturer's instructions.

d.

Grout ta: ped, rodded, strapped or spaded for proper consolidation.

e.

Grout tenperature will be maintained between 50 and 80 F.

f.

Vibration transmitted fran nearby equipnent avoided.

g.

Grout placed ccntinuously and contact with bottan of base plate maintained by head or other pressure.

l 3 of 4 4-3.1.3 Post-Placanent Inspection The OC Inspector shall verify the following post-placenet requirenents:

a.

Surfaces ofIgrout shall be protected frm prenature drying.

b.

Forms shall not be left in place.

Curing will be maintained for 7 days, or until the grout c.

has obtained a canpressive strength of '4,000 P.S.I.

d.

Grout protected frm mechanical damage, In hot weather conditions, area shall be wet continuously e.

and exposed metal forms wetted until renoval.

f.

Cold weather ccnditions require surface temerature to be maintained between 500F and 700F when ambient tenperature is below 400F g.

Teperature inmediately adjacent to the grout does not change more than 5 F an hour or 50 F in any 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />.

3.2 DOCUEhTATION The QC Inspector shall verify on the Inspection Report (Fig.1) that the inspection requirenents of this instruction have been met and subnit it to the OC Doctanentation Supervisor.
