Verification Personnel" 2.0 PURPOSE AND SCOPE The purpose of this instruction is to provide the criteria and frequency to be used when performing verification of i

seismic wall and ceiling mounted component support base plates located in Seismic Category I Buildings for grouting j

i in accordance with the requirements of Reference 1-A.

i mounted base plates receiving dry pack material or grout do not fall within the scope of this instruction.

I 2.1 Quality Control personnel using this instruction shall be cognizant of the requi rements of Reference 1-F of this i nstruction.

3.0 INSTRUCTION 3

i 3.1 BASE PLATE GROUTING AND SHIMMING h

3.1.1 Inside Containment Use j

Gaps between the base plate and the concrete shall not j

exceed 1/16" for a minimum of.80% of the base plate. The gap between the plate and concrete for a maximum of 20% of the plate may exceed 1/16 inch but at no point shall the f (']

gap exceed 1/2 inch.

l 3.1.2 Outside Containment Use l

3.1.3 Shim material may consist of steel shim plates or washers of i

a size necessary to allow proper Hilti bolt torquing without i

base plate defonnation.

The grout fill holes shall be 1/4" diamater and shall not be drilled within 1 inch of a concrete anchor.

Addi tional ly, the grout fill holes shall j

be located outside the bolt hole pattern.

3.2 00CUtiENTATION i

l Inspections shall be recorded on an Inspection Report in i

accordance with Reference 1-B.

This Inspection Report may be included as attributes on an Inspection Report generic to a specific hanger inspection instruction (i.e.,

cable tray supports, conduit supports, etc.) as outlined in that specific instruction.

Hangers inspected by the craft as required per Reference 1-C do not require a - Bearing Inspection Report (Attachment 2)-

written for grout placement purposes.

All unsatisfactory conditions shall' be documented on an IR and/or a NCR per Reference 1-B.

IR's shall be processed as directed by the QA/QC Supervisor.

l A reject tag may be applied to "unsat" items per Reference 1-E.

During Room Turnover activities or as areas are statused

" complete for grout" by Area Management, a verification 8

"walkdown" may be completed by QC inspectors to veri fy i,

adequate bearing.

This "walkdown" shall be a minimum frequency of ten baseplates of each type of attached item (pipe support, cable tray hanger, structural platform, etc.)

i in each area, but not more than twenty of each item. This i

"walkdown" inspection shall be documented on an Inspection l

Report (Attachment 3).

Deficiencies identified during this "walkdown" shall be l

reviewed by the applicable QA/QC Supervisor for evaluation of a change in inspection frequency in the affected area.

If further inspection is required, the Inspection Report' (Attachment 3) shall designate the required frequency.

this instruction or QI-QAP-11.1-28,
