l This instruction provides the QC Inspector with the criteria to i
O O
be used when inspecting Epoxy Adhesive Pressure Grout on supports.
l base plates and equipment foundations with the use of Ceilcote 658-N epoxy grout.
i, 2.2 SCOPE This instruction is to be used when inspecting the pressure grout used on ASME Section III, Subsection NF, Class 5 Supports and gaps formed between the concrete and the equipment base after grouting per CCP-16 (due to shrinkage). The use of this material is limited to gaps not to exceed 1/4" ' wide.
3.0 INSTRUCTION ON DE,y 3.1 SURFACE PREPARATION Prior to application of the Epoxy Adhesive Grout, as much as possible, verify that the grouting surface and surrounding area is free from oil and other foreign materials and is dry.
3.2 FORMING Epoxy grout is applied in a fluid state and adequate forms or
" Dam" must be provided as applicable.

OCT 2 7 1981 2 of 4 3.3 EQUIPMENT / BASE PLATE PREPARATION Pressure Grout placement holes shall be located as described in Attachment 1 to CEI 5 for base prat'es and in' accordance with the instructions provided by Engineering on an Operational Traveler for equipment bases.
Hole size shall be 1/4", or as specified by Engineering and does not require repair after grout placement.
t QC shall verify that placement holes are not within 1" of a concrete anchor and that the void under the base plate does not exceed 1/4" by use of a feeler gauge.
Gaps exceeding 1/4" shall be brcught to the attention of the Engineer for resolution prior to grout placement.
3.4 MIXING The mixing of the epoxy resin and resin converter shall be as per the manufacturier's instructions and Reference 1-A for hanger base plates, Reference 1-B for equipment bases.
Constituents provided in field unit kits are specific quantities and are not to be deviated from.
When the temperature of the field unit kits exceed 90*, the contents of the sealed containers must be cooled to about 70* F.
Below 70*
F, mixing becomes difficult.
Best handling properties are achieved at 75*F t 5'F, but are not manda tory.
Properly mixed grout will be unifonn tan in color with no dry areas.
Pot life may vary depending on temperature. At 70*F, pot life will be approximately 30 minutes.
Mixed grout will be considered unacceptable when the first signs of gelling occur.
3.5 PLACEMENT QC shall verify that construction has placed dial indicators on equipment base plates to monitor base movement during pressure grouting and that the readings are recorded in the operational travelers.
Where possible, pressure grouting shall proceed in all directions from the centennost opening. As soon as grout is p
emitted from an adjacent hole and the grout is free of (V
bubbles, injection may begin at that opening.
This step wise procedure shall be continued until the grout is forced (bubble free) from all sides of the base plate or holes adjacent to the edge, p
