to be used when inspecting Epoxy Pressure Grout en supports, l

base plates and equipment foundations wi th the use of Ceilcote 658-N epoxy grout.

2.2 SCOPE This instruction is to be used when inspecting the pressure.

grout used on ASME Section III, Subsection NF, Class 5 l

Supports, cable tray, conduit supports and gaps fonned between the concrete and the equipment base after grouting i

per CCP-16 (due to shrinkage).

The use of this material is limited to gaps not to exceed 1/2 inch wide.

2 of 4 3.2 EQUIPMENT / BASE PLATE PREPARATION Pressure Grout placement holes shall be located as described in Attachment 1 to CEI-25 for base plates and in accordance with the instructions provided by Engineering on an Operational Traveler for equipment bases.

Hole size shall be 1/4" or as specified by Engineering and does not require repair after grout placement.

4 QC shall verify that placement holes are not within 1" of a l

concrete anchor and that the void under the base plate does not exceed 1/16".

Gaps exceeding 1/2" shall be brought to the attention of the Engineer for resolution prior to grout placement.

3.3 MIXING The mixing of the epoxy resin and resin converter shall be as per the manufacturer's instructions and Reference 1-A for o

hanger base plates, Reference 1-B for equipment bases.

Constituents provided in field unit kits are specific quantities and are not to be deviated from.

When the temperature of the field unit kits exceed 90', the contents of the sealed containers must be cooled to about 70* F.

Below 70*

F, mixing becomes difficult.

Best handling.

properties are achieved at 75'F 2 5'F, but are not l

manda tory.

l Properly mixed grout will' be uniform tan in color wi.th no dry areas.

Pot life may vary depending on temperature. At i

70*F, pot life will be approximately 30 minutes.

Mixed j

grout will be considered unacceptable when the first signs l

of gelling occur.

l 3.4 PLACEMENT Ceilcote 658-N Grout shall not be placed unless the surface temperature of the area to be grouted is at or above 50*F.

One surface temperature will be taken for each area that i

the base plates are being grouted in.

Infrequent dips in i

temperature to 40*F is pennissible during placement and/or cure; however, the elapsed time the temperature is below l

50 F shall be added to the cure time. The surrounding area h

of (the base plate to be grouted) shall be inspected to s(j be free of moisture.

i QC shall verify that construction has placed dial indicators l

on equipment base plates to monitor base movement during pressure grouting and that the readings are recorded in the 1

operational travelers.

l f

Where possible, pressure grouting shall proceed in all directions from the centermost opening. As soon as grout is j

emitted from an adjacent hole and the grout is free of bubbles, injection may begin at that opening.

This step wise procedure shall be continued until the grout is forced l

(bubble free) from all sides of the base plate or holes i

adjacent to the edge.

l i

l l

NOTE:

On equipment when isolated pockets are being

grouted, the above paragraph may not be applicable.

1 3.5 CURE OF GROUT l

When a system has been grouted and is being placed into operation prior to the full seven days of cure, the hangers that have been grouted will be monitored for surface temperature and cure time as stated below.

Surface Temp. *F Hours of Cure i

50 - 69 72

~

70 - 89 18 l'

90 - 110 16 i

Below 50*F little or no cure takes place, therefore, grouted areas are to be maintained above 50*F for proper cure.

Full cure of grout shall be seven days at or above 50*F.

3.6 DOCUMENTATION Equipment base plate grouting shall be documented on an i

Operation

Traveler, a

Grout Placement

Card, and an l

1 Inspection Report (See Figure 1).

Hanger base plate grouting shall be documented on a Grout Placement Card and I

the IR.

l f

3.7 SAFETY b

Safety precautions shall be observed as identified in Reference 1-A or 1-B.
