This ihst,ru wien provides the QC Inspec' tor with the criteria to be used when inspecting Epoxy Pressure Grout on supports, base plates and equi pment foundations wi th the use of Ceilcote 658-N epoxy grout, y
I h
I 2.2 SCOPE This instruction is to be used when inspecting the pressure
[
grout used on ASME Section III,' Subsection NF, Class 5 Supports, cable tray, condui t supports and gaps fomed between the concrete and the equipment base after grouting per CCP-16 (due to shrinkage).
The use of this material is limited to gaps not to exceed 1/2 inch wide.
3.0 INSTRUCTION 3.1 FORMING I
l Epoxy grout is applied in a fluid state and adequate foms or l
" Dam" must be provided as applicable.

3.2 EQUIPMENT / BASE PLATE PREPARATI0ft Pressure Grout placement holes shall be located as described in Attachment 1 to CEI-25 for base plates and in accordance i
wi th the i nstructions provided by Engineering on an i
Operational Traveler for equipment bases.
Hole size shall be 1/4" or as specified by Engineering and does not require j
repair after grout placement.
QC shall verify that placement holes are not within 1" of a concrete anchor and that the void under the base plate does not exceed 1/16".
Gaps exceeding 1/2" shall be brought to the attention of the Engineer for resolution prior to grout placement.
3.3 MIXING j
Mix the entire contents of each of the following constituents as described below.
If s..ial ler quantities are required, h
contact the TUGC0 Lab for issuance of measured quantities.
3 V.
The constituents to be mixed are:
1.
Ceilcote 658-N grout liquid (resin) l 2.
Ceilcote hardener 4A i
3.
Mesh silica aggregate Add the hardener to the resin component; stir thoroughly, approximately two (2) minutes until completely mixed. Pour i
this into the mixing container and add silica slowly and mix until it is uniform tan in s color with no dry areas i
remaining.
Constituents provided in field unit ki ts are speci fic quantities and are not to be deviated from.
When the temperature of the field unit kits exceed 90', the contents of the sealed containers must be cooled to about 70' F.
I Below 70*
F, mixing becomes di fficult.
Best handling properties are achieved at 75'F 5'F, but are not mandatory.
I l
Properly mixed grout will be unifonn tan in color with no l
dry areas.
Pot life may vary depending on temperature. At 70"F, pot life will be approximately 30 minutes.
Mixed grout will be considered unacceptable when the first signs of gelling occur.

3.4 PLACEMENT Ceilcote 658-N Grout shall not be placed unless the surface temperature of the area to be grouted is at or above 50*F.
One surface temperature will be taken for each area that the base plates are being grouted in.
Infrequent dips in temperature to 40'F is pennissible during placement and/or j
cure; however, the elapsed time the temperature is below 50*F shall be added to the cure time. The surrounding area j
of (the base plate to be grouted) shall be inspected to be free of moisture.
QC shall verify that construction has placed dial indicators on equipment base plates to monitor base movement during pressure grouting and that the readings are recorded in the operational travelers.
Where possible, press 0re grouting shall proceed in all directions from the centermost opening. As soon as grout is
[~s}
emi tted from an adjacent hole and the grout is free of bubbles, injection may begirt at that opening.
This step i
wise procedure shall be continued unti-1 the grout is forced l
r (bubble free) from all sides of the base plate or holes l
adjacent to the edge.
NOTE:
On equi pment when isolated pockets are being j
- grouted, the above paragraph may not be applicable.
3.5 INSPECTION FREQUENCY l
The QC Civil Inspector shall witness all grout inspection activities outlined in this instruction on all equipment l
base plates and on all items requi ring a grout card or 4
-l traveler.
Inspection of pressure grouted' base plates for all other items shall be on a monitor basis per Reference j
1-C, on a frequency designated by the QC Civil Supervisor.
3.6 DOCUMENTATION j
Equipment base plate grouting shall be documented on an Inspection Report and Operation Traveler.
Hanger base i
plate grouting shall be documented on the IR.
All unsatisfactory conditions shall be documented on an IR per Reference 1-C.
l 3.7 SAFETY Safety precautions shall be observed as identified in Reference 1-A or 1-B.
