Docket No. 50-247 Mr. Angus Macbeta Natural Fesources Defense Ccuncil, Inc.
36 West 44th Street New York, New York 10036
Dear Mr. '.iacbeth:
Your letter of September 7, 1971, to Chairman Schlesinger comments on a letter he received from Mr. Milton Musieur, Chairman, Interdepartmental Con::tittee on Public Utilities of the City of New York, about Indian Point Unit No. 2.
I assume you refer to his letter of August 31, 1971, in which hc discusses the availability of the nuclear power station during New York City's anticipated peak demand period
,xt :2u::cter.
I have replied to Mr. Musicus on behalf of Chairman Schlesinger, and am enclosing herewith a copy of this reply.- As you can see, I did not interpret Mr. Musicus' letter to be an attempt to intervene in the licensing proceedings now in T.rogress for the Indian Toint Unit No. 2; rather, it seemed to me to be an egression of concern that Scu York City might have inadequate reserve power should the unit not be avail-able for service next su=mer.
It is in this context that I replied to his letter.
If I may be of further assistance in this matter, please let me know.
Sincerely, 1
m i
