The report has been irepared by the applicant at our request under our statement of policy on irr.plementation of the National Environmental Policy Acte A notice of the availability of the report and request for comments from State and local agencies han been sont to the office of the Federal Register for filing and publication (copy enclosed). A request for comments also has been sent to those applicabic Federal agencice specified in the Council on Environmental Quality's memorandum of June 3, 1970, and a copy of the report has been forwarded to the Council.

After we have received the commento of the Federal, State, and local agencies, we vill prepare a detailed environmental statement, including a discussion of any problem or objections raised and the disposition thereof. We vill forward a copy of this otatement to the Committee.

A copy.of the report is being placed in the Commission's Public Document Room, 1717.H Street, N.W., Washington, D.

and in the Office of the Mayor of the Village of Buchanan, Westchester 1

s County, New York.

Consolidated Edison Company of-New York, Inc., has applied for an operating license for its proposed Indian Point Nuclear Generating Station Unit 2, to be located on its site in the Village of buchanan, Weetchester County, New York.

The Commission hereby requests, within 60 days of publication of 1

this notice in the FEDERAL REGISTER, from State and local agencies of any affected State (with respect to matters within their jurisdiction) which are authorized to develop and enforce environmental standards, comments on the proposed action and on the report.
