05000271 4 LER 78-33/3L EVENT DESCRIPTION AND PROBABLE CONSEQUENCES During routine weekly surveillance and air sample changing operations associated with the radiological environmental program specified in Tech.

i ' Spec. 3.9.D.2, it was discovered that the air pump motor at Station 1.1 was not operating. The elapsed time meter indicated the pump motor had operated only 0.4 hours4.62963e-5 days
0.00111 hours
6.613757e-6 weeks
1.522e-6 months
following the previous week sample change. . This i is contrary to the requirement for continuous air particulate monitoring contained in Tech. Spec. Table 3.9.1. Since stack gaseous and particu-late releases were minimal during the air sample outage, no significant. ,

data was lost and there was no adverse effect upon public health or safety.

CAUSE DESCRIPTION AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS The inoperable air pump was-immediately replaced mnmliscovery and a'

. new weekly air sample was initiated. Available evidence indicates the cause of this occurrence was an undetected "open" fault in the electrical supply circuit (i.e., power switch "0N," fuse intact, pump motor cold, replacement pump operated properly). This is regarded as an isolated incident.
