AGENDA 1.

Explain any recent design changes on steam generator /superheater and the reasons for these changes.

2.

Please explain in some detail, the impact of any recent changes upon the safety of the steam generator / superheater system.

3.

Please explain the elevated temperature design and analysis used to establish the integrity of the present design.

4.

Test descriptions in the PSAR are contained in amendments variously dated from 1977 to 1981.

Please proviue an updating of test plans and the reasons why you believe modeling and testing to be adequate.

S.

Please provide additional infonnation.on the new eyaporator/

superheater design in the following areas:

a)

Detail the tube / tubesheet weld area.

b) Are the tube walls and tubesheets of a single or duplex design?

c) How will the design accommodate stresses arising from teoperature differences throughout the module, especially between the tubes and the shell?

d) Will routing the sodium through the shell side of the module dlleViate the corrosion problems experienced with LWR steam genera tors? Are there any corrosion problems not seen in LUR generators anticipated from using sodium as heat transfer fluid?

e) A gross failure of a tube away from the module ceaterline could generate severe asymmetric loads.

Will this be considered.in the design and analysis?

6.

Discuss the selection of the Design basis accident for sodium-water / steam reaction in the steam generator / superheater.

Discuss how this compares with world operating experience and any testing data base.
