l ijk"q b' 'l y;t 23 94 l-D. F. Ross, Chief. Core Perforn3nce Branch, L' PRESENT STATUS OF B&W POWER SPIKE H0 DEL On July 17, 1974 I received a ca-1 from James Harrison,of B'abcock & Wilcox.

lie wished to discuss the implications of the Staff's position on the B&W Power Spike model on Oconce I Cycle II. The Staff recently told B&W that their power spike model was acceptable if they would make the following rodifications:

(1) Assum a linear distribution of gap probability.

(2) Assume 0.5 gaps / rod.

B&W feels that these assumptions are too stringent but they lack the data to present a stronger case at this time. Therefore, after some discussion we agreed on the following plan of action..B&W will use the Staff modifications for Oconee I, Cycle II and the Staff will leave the issue open on a generic basis until the time when B&W is able to respond to the Staff's concerns.
