We have received a copy of your application dated August 28, 1981, which was filed with the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (ONRR) for review.
This application proposed certain Technical Specification (TS) changes relating to containmerit purge valve operability for Point Beach, Units 1 and 2.
Fees pursuant to 10 CFR 170.22 were not remitted with your application because you detemined that this application was exempt from fees in that it is in response to an NRC request and the TS changes are for NRC convenience since your Company previously comitted in writing to maintain containment purge supply and exhaust valves shut and have been testing these valves periodically. When applications for license amend-t l
ments or other approvals are requested by the USNRC for the purpose of ~
enhancing the safe operation of a nuclear facility, to correct a problem or potential problem relating to plant operation and/or warrant specific inclusion in facility TS, they are not exempt from the fee requirements of 10 CFR 170.22. On this basis, licensees are being requested to pay fees for applications ?ubmitted in response to the USHRC requests for amendments relating to centainment purge Yalve operability.
i Based on information provided by the ONRR staff as a result of their Class III fee ($4,000)your application, it has been determined that ais applicable fo preliminary review of is applicable for Unit 2 because the review will involve consideration of a single safety issue end a duplicate unit. Therefore, it is requested that your Company remit the sum of $4,400 to this office for your August 28 application. If the ONRR staff's final review of your applica-tion reveals that.these fees are not correct, you will be notified and any necessary adjustment will be made.
