Containment Air Lock Inoperable CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:

Mode 1 - Rx Power 98% - Unit Load 1110 MW DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

While performing Surveillance Procedure SP (O) 4. 6.1.3 on the Elevation 100' Containment Air Lock, it was determined that the leak rate exceeded the limit of 0.05 La at the design pressure of 47.0 psig as required by Technical Specification 3.6.1.3b.

At 2222 hours0.0257 days <br />0.617 hours <br />0.00367 weeks <br />8.45471e-4 months <br />, Action Statement 3.6.1.3 was entered which requires that with an air lock inoperable, restore the air lock to operable status within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> or be in at least Hot Standby within the next 6 hours6.944444e-5 days <br />0.00167 hours <br />9.920635e-6 weeks <br />2.283e-6 months <br /> and in Cold Shutdown within the following 30 hours3.472222e-4 days <br />0.00833 hours <br />4.960317e-5 weeks <br />1.1415e-5 months <br />.

This occurrence consti-tuted operation in a degraded mode IAW Technical Specification 6.9.1.9b.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

The outer dcor seal would not hold pressure.

ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:

Upon investigation, it was determined ti.at the outer door seal had come out of its channel and, therefore, <:ould not maintain pressure.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

The seals on the outer door were repaired and tested satisfactorily.
