Auxiliary Annunciator Typewriter Failure CO~DITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:

Rx Power 95% - Unit Load 1050 MW DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

During normal operation at 0550 hours0.00637 days <br />0.153 hours <br />9.093915e-4 weeks <br />2.09275e-4 months <br /> on January 24, 1981, the carriage guide wire of the auxiliary annunciator typewriter broke.

This resulted in the loss of the Containment Sump Level Monitoring System.

Action Statement 3.4.6.1.b was entered which allows operation to continue for up to 30 days with this system inoperable.

A lamp was connected across the Containment Sump Pump Breaker and an operator was stationed at the breaker to record the operating time of the pump until repairs to the typewriter were completed.

This occurrence constituted operati9n in a degraded mode IAW Technical Specification 6.9.1.9.b.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

Equipment Failure ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:

With an operator stationed at the Containment Sump Pump Breakers, all operations of the pump were recorded.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

The broken carriage guide wire was replaced by an IBM maintenance technician.

The Action Statement was terminated at 2106 hours0.0244 days <br />0.585 hours <br />0.00348 weeks <br />8.01333e-4 months <br /> on January 24, 1981.
